Middle Class America SUCKS
Well, my oldest went to a program today at school and found out that he has..........ready......less than 1% chance at financial aide for college based on his dad's income.  YUP.  He and my other three are smart, driven kids but they don't get to go to college because we can't pull that amount of money out of our asses to pay tuition and we get no help.  What I don't get is why can't we get the loans?  Obviously we could pay them back.  It's bad enough that I might lose my job over the health care bill.  Now I can't even put my kids in college even though we've been saving since they were born?  FUCK IT ALL!!  I don't remember ever being this pissed off.  I've always supported our government but at this point I'm sooooo done.  If you are rich....cool, you can afford it.   If you are poor, cool, they'll help.  BUT if you are middle class Obama and CO. says bend over because we need milk for the poor.  WELL FUCK OFF!!  Sorry to my liberal friends who get to see their kids succeed, but I'm pretty PISSED right now and can't control myself like I usually do.

Thanks, I've calmed down some from last night. We'll figure something out.

What? You don't get a student loan? I can understand if you don't get other aids but a student loan? Isn't that for everybody? And this is the system our own nitwit politicians are striving for? *shudder*

This just stinks to high heaven!

The student loans are somehow wrapped up in the health care bill. I don't know why that makes a difference, but I guess it does.

I'm sorry, especially when you've been saving since the kids were born. I think there'd be even less if the tea party was in office, though.

I'm seeing a lot of anger among the rich for giving any financial support to those in lower income brackets. That includes the middle class.

The tea party isn't going to make it to office. I can't see a third party making it any time soon.

I'm not asking for the rich to pay me anything, I'm just asking for the chance at student loans.

I do agree. That's crazy that your kids can't get student loans.

As an adult who is putting herself slowly through college herself...I promise you I feel your pain. And I am raising a duahgter who I know will have an even tougher road than I do. And you are right...it flat out sucks, no way around it. We just all have to keep our fingers crossed that things get worked out before it's too late.

You can always try to look into community college to start chipping away at things until you figure out a way to get the governement to pay attention. :(

I've given up trying to get my masters. There is no way I can afford that and figure out a way to get my three kids through school. Hopefully it'll all work out.

I feel your pain. It's ridiculous how financial aid is distributed. I've known a lot of people that have been making money off their scholarships. It's fair for a full-ride to cover tuition/rent/books/etc, but when students have a few extra hundred dollars each semester from the college- well, some of that money should go to other students that need it.

So many problems, and I don't think anyone in our government really cares about fixing them. They just want to be elected and have some power. At least that's how my cynical side sees things.

Anyway, I hope you get things get worked out soon. *hugs*

I'm pretty cynical when it comes to politicians as well. I can't think of any who haven't disappointed me.

I'm sure somehow it'll work out.

I sent you an email with some information about financial aid with a link that might help you to get a clearer picture of what your son might be eligible for.

I was trying to send it from work this morning, but I couldn't finish it before I started work because someone was annoying me and asking me to start working before it was time and then when I was trying to finish it during my lunch something happened to hotmail and I couldn't send it.

Man that sincerely sucks. I'm not up on the current costs for going to school, but would it help any if he became emancipated from you? It would change your tax situation, but it might enable him to get the necessary loans.

Start looking for scholarships now, especially those strange obscure ones. Also, he could feasibly begin at a two year community college and live at home, eventually transferring to a four year school.

You know how much I totaly understand this. It's exactly why I didn't go back to finish my BA until after I turned 25 cause then I was finally eligible. I would recommend scholarships of course and then going to community college first. Cheaper and it's easier to get the gen recs out of the way. Plus it gives them time to figure out what they want to get a degree in or change their minds a bunch of times. Thats kinda what I did...although I always went back to English.

I have the same problem....I've worked my ass off to get very little from the goverment. I'd like to see them work full time and go to school full time at the same time.....stupid people.
